Notepad2
1) For those who’ve run into issues with patching Notepad2 I’ve posted a command line trick that should help when patching on slower computers.
2) For those of you who try to replace the default Windows Notepad here’s a small utility that should help any system file replacing -> Replacer

3)I didn’t use Replacer – I simply ran the following command (in the folder where my patched and renamed Notepad2 was) a couple of times and Windows did not reinstate original notepad.exe

copy notepad.exe c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386\notepad.exe
copy notepad.exe c:\windows\system32\dllcache\notepad.exe
copy notepad.exe c:\windows\system32\notepad.exe
copy notepad.exe c:\windows\notepad.exe

Description:
Copies a patched version of the interface
and overwrites the default icons in the in 7zip folder

Comments:
– 7Zip version 4.57
– For now it was not possible to create a Tango interface; only Gnome GUI is available)
– There are several types of icons for Tango: rar, zip, bz2, iso, gzip, 7z, tar, cab and “split” archives.. For Gnome just the default one.

In order for the batch file to run successfully 7-zip should be placed in the default Program Files path. If it doesn’t work you need to alter the batch file.

You will may need to rebuild the icon cache after that to see the changes.
